Signs that you may have ADHD as an adult

“Making Psychology Accessible to Everyone”

Do you often feel incompetent, and know that you’re smarter than what you may act sometimes?
Does your brain seem to work faster than you can keep up with?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition where there are differences in parts of the brain that control our ability to plan, organise and focus. Symptoms generally start in childhood, however it is missed in many children and often only discovered in adulthood. An estimated 5% of the adult population aged 18-44 are affected by ADHD, but only 10% of adult ADHD sufferers receive treatment for their condition. ADHD may be affecting your daily life with little things such as being forgetful, misplacing things, frequently making errors, as well as feelings such as tiredness, trying to always be on top of things with it becoming overwhelming.

CHECKLIST TO DETERMINE IF YOU SUFFER FROM ADULT ADHD

IF YOU CHECKED MORE THAN HALF OF THE ABOVE, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

The first and most important step is to be assessed by one of our Psychologists, to determine whether you suffer from ADHD, and develop strategies to teach you how to better cope with the challenges you face. Once you understand what is happening, and how you can manage it, you will feel a sense of relief. You will have answers to the ‘why’ you are an intelligent person, but have not been able to execute yourself to the same level in all areas of your life. You will learn how to manage your brain that seems to run a hunder miles per hour, so it doesn’t get the best of you.
