Peta Williams is a highly skilled Psychologist known for being caring, humorous and passionate about her work. A specialist in assisting children and adolescents, she creates a fun, safe space in which they can explore and develop their emotional needs and social skills. Peta builds resilience in the young and cultures their sense of self; she concurrently works with parents to guide them in providing the most supportive, sustainable environment for their child to grow and form relationships in.
Peta’s understanding and compassion extends a protective, welcoming assurance to children and adolescents in the midst of what can be serious and complex issues. She has consistently gained positive results in managing severe and challenging behaviours, supporting children back into the school environment, supporting parents through diagnoses and interventions, creating secure and appropriate friendships for adolescents, and increasing skills around emotional regulation and self-esteem.
Peta’s time in the non-profit disability sector and at a school for children with disabilities enforced her deep appreciation for individuality; she customises her approach to the specific needs of every client.
As a Child Psychologist at Creating Change, Peta combines a Master of Psychology (Clinical), a Graduate Diploma in Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychology, with extensive training in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness.
Equally impressive is the scope of presentations she treats: emotional dysregulation, social anxiety, specific phobias, childhood depression, underdeveloped social and life skills, self-harm, suicide, behavioural difficulties, ADHD, learning disorders, performance and exam anxiety including HSC stress, and challenges experienced in relationships and families.
Outside of work, Peta enjoys spending time with her dogs, gaming and perusing creative community markets.
